The rumors that Suge Knight was responsible for the murder of Tupac Shakur have been swirling for years because Suge Knight had a motive—money. Suge had a lot to lose if Tupac left Death Row Records and he had a lot to gain from Tupac's death. Back then the perception was that Suge Knight was Death Row Records. The contracts were all drafted in the name of the record label—not with Suge personally.

The rumor that Suge was behind the murder of Tupac had legs because of the money motive associated with Death Row Records retaining the revenue that Tupac Shakur generated. Tupac had worked hard to fulfill his contract by laying down tracks that were in the vault ready to be released. Some 200 tracks had been recorded in a short time and Death Row Records had possession of those tracks. If the matter went to court Tupac might be successful in winning the rights to the recordings. If Tupac died there would be nobody to contest ownership—at least that was the thinking at the time.

But the one question that has never been answered until now is: "Why would Suge Knight put himself in the vehicle if he was planning to have Tupac killed?"

Tupac:187 is an examination of the 15,000 pages of case files in the murder of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. Many of the documents examined have been purged from the current case files. These documents were photocopied at the time and kept safe so that the truth could come out. When a Confession Letter surfaced in 2014, the documents were also examined in the context of that Confession Letter to give the writers a better understanding of what happened that night.

The truth is that Suge Knight possessed the means to kill Tupac Shakur. He had ample opportunities to kill Shakur in many ways that would not put him also in the cross hairs that night. If Suge wanted Tupac dead it would have unfolded in a much different way. Suge Knight was driving the BMW when the white Cadillac drove up alongside where shooters fired 13 rounds into the car. Suge Knight, simply put, was not involved in the murder of Tupac Shakur.

The Confession Letter tells that both Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight were meant to die that night. The murderers wanted to take over Death Row Records—worth a billion dollars at the time. They also wanted the rights to Tupac's music according to the letter. The letter, written in 1998, names the shooter of Tupac Shakur.

If we trace back the rumor about Suge being the murderer where does it come from? It comes from the man on the plane ride back from New York, on September 4th, who asked Tupac repeatedly if he was coming to Las Vegas. It comes from the same artist that thought Tupac and Suge were going to have him killed at the time. It comes from the same artist that was abandoned by his own security detail on the night of May 1, 1998 at the Universal Amphitheater. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department rescued that artist as gang members who appeared to do him harm surrounded him. The artist told Sheriff's that Suge Knight was behind the murder of Tupac Shakur. They told others and the rumor took flight.

Is it any surprise that the shooter named in the confession letter is the cousin of the artist that started the rumor that Suge Knight was behind the murder?

Whatever crimes Suge Knight may have committed he is certainly not guilty of the murder of Tupac Shakur. On the night of September 7th 1996, Suge Knight was a victim and he was the target of the assassination. When many of the same group gathered together, six months later, to kill Biggie Smalls at the Petersen Museum they chose a professional shooter, used GEKO armor piercing ammunition, and kept the gangs out of their operation. A Black SS rolled up alongside Biggie's car and a tight pattern of shots hit only Biggie Smalls. Tupac lingered for a number of days, Biggie Smalls died almost instantly. The different result was due to changes employed through the lessons the murderers learned on September 7th, 1996—the night Suge Knight and Tupac Shakur were "green lit" to be executed.

I recently collaborated with former LAPD Homicide Detective Russell Poole and RJ Bond on a book, Tupac:187. We poured over 15,000 pages of case files. LAPD has a tremendous opportunity to break with the past and come clean about corruption that once existed within the department. The Rampart Scandal rocked the City of Los Angeles when it was learned that off-duty cops participated in bank robberies, cocaine distribution, and worked off-duty for Death Row Records. When evidence began to surface that off-duty cops participated in the murder of rapper Christopher Wallace the LAPD and City of Los Angeles participated in a COVER-UP. Now Internal Affairs Case IA: CF NO 14-001995 into the LAPD leak of a confession letter in the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur by a Detective that has ties directly to the suspect implicated in that letter deserves to be fully investigated. Los Angeles has the best leadership ever assembled with Eric Garcetti, Mike Feuer, and Ron Galperin. Police Chief Charlie Beck has been part of the transformation to uproot corruption inside of LAPD and he must continue until all of the residue of the Rampart Scandal is swept out. Los Angeles Sheriff Jim McDonnell is also a no-nonsense partner to uproot corruption. Now I would simply ask that the City of Los Angeles and Law Enforcement treat the murders of rappers Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace seriously by appointing someone as the lead detective that doesn’t have a cozy relationship with the main suspect in both murders. Come Clean with the past by exposing all of the previous corruption to sweep it out and establish Los Angeles as the model for all police departments throughout the world.

Tupac:187 May Hold Key To Suge Knight's Freedom

Suge Knight is due back in court on January 27th, 2015. The information contained in Tupac:187 may hold the key to Suge Knight's Freedom. LAPD leaked a confession letter to the attempted murder of Knight and murder of rapper Tupac Shakur when they should have investigated it.

The confession letter was given to Fox 11's Chris Blatchford in 1998. At that time, law enforcement was not interested in the letter. Recently that letter was entrusted to former LAPD Detective Russell Poole. On June 24th, 2014 Russell Poole and RJ Bond (Tupac Assassination Director) visited LAPD and met with four officers. One of those officers had direct ties back to a suspect in the Biggie Smalls Murder that was also mentioned as a suspect in the confession letter. Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese promised Poole and Bond that the confession letter would be handled responsibly and not end up on the streets. On August 18th that letter was leaked and ended up on the streets. Six days later Suge Knight was shot in a West Hollywood nightclub. One witness said that the shooter screamed, "You killed Tupac" as he fired shots at Knight.

Suge Knight would have a potential lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles if it was discovered that the letter led to him being shot on the 24th. But Suge also has a cause of action against the City of Los Angeles because they failed to investigate fully the letter for the attempted murder of Suge Knight in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. The letter and Chris Blatchford's statement (both are published in Tupac:187) indicate that the conspiracy to murder Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight began in Los Angeles. 

LAPD is currently investigating the leak of the confession letter in IA: CF NO. 14-001995. The current lead investigator in the Christopher Wallace homicide is tied directly back to one of the suspects in the murder. When the letter was received he should have recused himself from the investigation. Instead the letter was leaked and an attempt was made to dismiss and discredit it. LAPD has a history of handing the Christopher Wallace case to Detectives with direct ties to this suspect. Perhaps the time has come for a new face on the investigation as well as the investigation of rapper Tupac Shakur's murder. If the conspiracy to commit Tupac's murder began in Los Angeles then LAPD has jurisdiction in the case. At the time of the murder Death Row Records was based in Los Angeles.

LAPD's sloppy handling of the letter may give Suge Knight the leverage he needs to negotiate a plea arrangement leading to his freedom. Knight's attorney, James Blatt did not return a telephone call inquiring about this case.

Some of the details of the Suge Knight shooting have been surfacing. It appears that Suge Knight was the target of the shooting. Keith Middlebrook said, "Two gang members showed up and accused Suge of killing Tupac and called him a traitor. I think they were two guys from Compton. They yelled at Suge, 'You killed Tupac.'"

This is consistent with the premise of the previous article. Why would the shooters mention Tupac? Were they trying to tie Suge to the Tupac killing to steer the investigation away from those responsible for the murder? Clearly Suge would never have put himself in the driver's seat when his passenger was going to be killed. This was clearly a plot to kill both Tupac and Suge and to take Death Row Records and the associated revenue away from Suge and steal Tupac's music. But Suge didn't die back then and he didn't die this time either.

The evidence seems to always point back to Compton. Who ran the Compton Police? Who has deep ties into the Compton Gangs? Quite possibly the shooter(s) in the most recent attempt to kill Suge Knight were hired by the very same people that were behind the killing of Tupac Shakur.

The truth is going to surface. Tupacileaks has received 1000 pages of documents. On December 1st all of this will be released to the public. The pursuit of the truth is underway.

LAPD Leaks Confession Letter In Tupac’s Murder That Might Be Reason Suge Knight Shot?

I just want to begin by saying that I don’t know any of the details of the shooting last night. It seems that getting specific details has been tough from typical news sources.

But I do find it curious that on August 18^th a website posts a confession letter, leaked by the Los Angeles Police Department, which gets 6000 views. The letter was given to LAPD by Russell Poole and RJ Bond two months ago and was leaked by someone in the department. The Confession Letter alleges that Reggie Wright Jr. contracted gangs to kill both Tupac and Suge Knight on the night of September 7^th 1996. Early this morning on the 24^th, just six days after the letter leaks publicly, Suge Knight is allegedly shot six times.

For those of you that don’t know the history I will recap. Suge Knight and Tupac are shot while driving from Suge Knight’s home in Las Vegas to Club 662 on the night of September 7^th 1996. Suge is injured in the shooting but walks away. Tupac is shot four times and is given a 50%/50% chance of survival but is only able to hold on for a few days. He dies on September 13, 1996. Michael Moore, a former Tupac bodyguard, tells of standing right next to Reggie Wright at the time of the shooting and hearing, “Got ‘em” come over Wright’s radio. If the confession letter is right and this was an attempt on Suge’s life, there would have to be a cover-up. People that knew about the plot would have to be silenced or killed.

When you look at the shootings in the immediate aftermath of the Tupac slaying, they mostly involved people that might have known something about the murder from Yafeu Fula to Orlando Anderson and many in-between. When you look at the next wave of killings just before Suge was released from prison it involved Suge's inner-circle: Buntry, Heron, Poochie, and Hen Dog. Seems that someone was trying to make sure that Suge was unable to pull together muscle to resume his reign.

If there is any truth to the confession letter the killing of Tupac and attempt on Suge’s life may have been kept from Suge for years. Six days ago a puzzle piece emerged that says Suge was in the crosshairs the night Tupac was murdered. In the immediate aftermath of the Shakur killing and Knight’s incarceration for a probation violation, there was total chaos at Death Row Records. Equipment, furniture, motorcycles, cars, and master tapes were disappearing. Once Reggie Wright was put in charge all of the chaos ended.

Details of the shooting last night are not yet available I would hope that the confession letter would be fully investigated by law enforcement. I would also hope that all relevant documents can be released to the public instead of leaked to stall the investigation.

            There is a rash of violence tied to Tupac’s murder including the slaying of Biggie Smalls on March 9, 1997. The similarity of the murders is compelling. There are two differences that stand out. The Tupac slaying was a wide pattern of bullets (bullets hit all over the car) with regular bullets being used. The Biggie killing is the same type of drive-by with a relatively tight pattern (bullets hit Biggie’s door) and armor-piercing GECO rounds used seeming to indicate that this hit was done professionally. The shootings are identical except for an experience modification. If the same people planned both murders, they would have learned something valuable from Tupac’s killing substituting a shooter that spent time shooting for accuracy as well as adding armor piercing ammunition to better pierce the car.

The family of Biggie Smalls sued LAPD and the City of Los Angeles claiming that LAPD officers participated in the killing of Biggie Smalls. A mistrial was declared when it was learned that thousands of documents had been withheld in the discovery process by LAPD. Now LAPD has leaked a document that could be the Rosetta stone to solving the case.

            Here is the error-ridden leaked confession letter: “There was a major problem with demo stilling. 2 song’s that 2 pac came out with were written by little half dead. little half dead was a up and coming rap singer. He gave 4 demo’s to 2 pac to look over, because he meat 2 pac at the bonavenchur Hotel. 2 pac promised that he would look over the demo’s. little half dead never heard from 2 pac, and 3 months later, after 2 pac revised the demo’s the song brenda’s got a baby was released. Brenda’s got a baby was written by little half dead. little half dead let that slide. But he continued to go to different recording studios. Finally in 94 little half dead started making money. And he was sponsord mostly by Sh Night. What Night did not know was that little half dead found out that he was being sold to Priority 1. There was a meeting in Reno. And little half dead and 2 pac had dispute about song’s that were taken. little half dead was beaten down by 2 pac Soldiers. As day’s went by there was meeting’s with ICG – gear gang – ghost town – front street – 52 - A Try hoover’s - and South Park, A bounty was put on 2 pac and Night. Mr. Writh Jr. gave Info where 2 pac was going to be. There was 6 different barricades that no matter what would of happened no one would of made it out. I was the shooter that was told to take Night out. little half dead was the one that took 2 pac out. As for gun that was used, will be dropped off at the security booth at fox 11. please do not have stop or talk to one of my droppin off the gun.

Tell X-con how you whant it deliverd. I don’t whant to put it in a box cause I don’t whant you thinking it’s a bomb. If you need any other Info, give X-con a list so I can meet him were I feel I am in more control. If we want this case solved I think the public needs to participate in getting to the bottom of the killings. I would invite anyone that has any documents that relate to the Tupac or Biggie killings to submit them to me and we can release them all on December 1^st 2014 simultaneously in what what I am going to call Tupacileaks. LAPD withheld documents in the civil trial and started the leaking with this confession letter… let’s all get behind solving the case by putting together the dots and pouring through the documents. There are hundreds of public and private records – court cases, interviews, videotapes, and photographs. Let’s put them all in one place and release them on December 1^st 2014. New Book "Tupac: 187" Could Lead to Nine-Billion-Dollar Judgment For City of Los Angeles

The City of Los Angeles was sued twice before over their role in the murder of Rapper Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka Notorious BIG. The first suit was declared a mistrial when the Wallace attorneys received an anonymous tip that thousands of documents were withheld from them and hidden in LAPD Detective Stephen Katz Desk Drawer. A recess was granted and a beeline was made to Detective Katz' desk where the documents were found that corroborated the assertion that off duty LAPD officers participated in the murder of Christopher Wallace.

A second suit was filed. This time the City of Los Angeles promised the Wallace Estate that they would redouble their efforts if only the suit was dropped. Within minutes of the suit being dismissed without prejudice the Detective who was leading the investigation and denied any and all documents in the Civil Trial was given 30 days to close down the case.

On June 24th, 2014, RJ Bond and Russell Poole brought a confession letter to the LAPD. Attending the meeting were Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese, Commander Kevin McCarthy, Captain William Hayes & Detective Daryn Dupree. Dupree was introduced as the current lead investigator in the Tupac and Biggie Smalls cases. RJ says, "There were assurances given by Chief Albanese that the letter would be handled carefully and that it wouldn't find its way on to the streets."

Daryn Dupree has two convictions from an Administrative Board of Rights where he was found guilty of illegally accessing LAPD computers for information about the girlfriend of a target in an FBI drug probe and using illegally cloned cellphones. Daryn Dupree also happens to be the former partner of the previous detective who was formerly lead in the Biggie Smalls Murder Investigation and who had been ordered to shut down the case minutes after the civil suit was dismissed.

The confession letter appeared on an Internet anarchist website on August 18th. Just six days later Suge Knight was shot in a West Hollywood nightclub. LAPD leaked the letter instead of investigating it as Chief Albanese had promised.

The City of Los Angeles' promise to reinvigorate the investigation into the killing of Christopher Wallace was a bogus ploy to have the case dismissed. Perry Sanders, lead attorney for the Wallace Estate in both civil suits, has confirmed that the case can be re-filed. The City of Los Angeles may still be taken to task for their role in killing rapper Christopher Wallace and for their consistent efforts to cover-up and derail the investigation.

If the City of Los Angeles is found liable they may be forced to pay the Estate of Christopher Wallace a sum equal to what the rapper would have earned during his lifetime; a sum that could total up to three billion dollars. The City may then be forced to pay triple punitive damages to the Wallace Estate. The total exposure for the City of Los Angeles may exceed nine billion dollars.

Two weeks ago I reached out to Mike Feuer, Eric Garcetti, and Ron Galperin to put this situation on their radar screen. Only Ron Galperin responded to me. I advised them to reach out to the Wallace Estate and attempt to reach a pre-emptive settlement. None of them were involved in any of the previous negotiations with the Estate so it may mean a new leaf gets turned over in the case. Either way, the book "Tupac:187" is a roadmap to reignite the Wallace Civil Suit or the investigations into the murders of Tupac and Biggie.

There is an Internal Affairs Investigation into the leak of the confession letter: IA CF NO. 14-001995. So far no disciplinary action has been taken in the case and Detective Daryn Dupree is still heading up the Wallace Investigation.

The City of Los Angeles has the responsibility to do the right thing here in spite of previous corruption within the City of Los Angeles and the LAPD. It is time to settle with the Wallace Estate by following through on the promise to seriously investigate the case by putting someone at the helm who will not leak confidential information and will instead investigate it.

Community Policing - Taking the Blinders Off of Justice

There has been a transformation over at LAPD. It took time and it took community involvement. It took uprooting a mentality of suppression-driven law enforcement. It took involving the community in prevention of crime rather than the suppression of crime. The numbers are in and it is working. Crime rates are at historic lows in spite of all of the budget cuts. The strategy is more efficient and it is saving lives.

Now we have a Sheriff's Department mired in controversy. Twenty Federal Indictments have been handed down and there is a cloud over the department that seems to mirror the recent past of LAPD. The time has come to uproot this old mentality inside of the Sheriff's and there is a clear choice to lead the charge. Who better than one of the catalysts for change at LAPD? Who better than a man that is currently running a department, and running it well, with many of the challenges and complexities inside of the Sheriff's Department? Who better than a man that has spent three decades inside of law enforcement in the Los Angeles area?

There are many choices on the ballet this June but one choice stands out above the rest. There is one candidate that can rally the community better than the others to achieve community policing. He is the candidate we deserve and the one that we need. Just look at all of the endorsements Jim McDonnell has received. The list includes: District Attorney Jackie Lacey, Former District Attorney Steve Cooley, Former District Attorney Gil Garcetti, Police Chief Charlie Beck, many other police chiefs, former Governor George Deukmejian, members of Congress, Assembly members, local politicians and many many community leaders.

If this new era of Community Policing is to take root at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department it is going to come from a Sheriff that can rally the entire community to get involved in continuing to make our community safe. When the entire community participates in law enforcement justice is no longer blind. Jim McDonnell is the logical next step in removing the blinders from Justice.
